Genre Decision Blog

All of the genres were very intriguing but, we have decided to do thriller. Moreover, the suspense, psychological and mystery side of thriller. The other genres didn't involve much mystery like thrillers do and my group and I wanted the mystery and suspense aspect in our film. Also, horror and thriller are almost alike. They contain many  of the same aspects such as camera angles, lighting, sound, and much more. Sometimes they may have similar plots/storylines too. However, horror movies differ from thriller because they display more of a scary horrific aspect. Horror movies usually contain ghost, demonic characters and activities, and much more unrealistic terrifying things. On the other hand, we have researched drama. Drama is great but it usually contains many problems/ conflicts and arguments which is why it is called drama.  Drama movies also deal with a lot of emotions whether it be happy, mad, or sad, the characters tend to be very emotional.

To continue, my group and I have settled on producing a thriller opening sequence. We all love the thriller genre and had the perfect idea in mind. Based off of inspiration from two television shows we knew exactly how to go about our opening sequence. We had a good starting point and as we put ideas together everything came along. The two television shows that inspired our idea were pretty little liars and scream. They both had similar mysterious, suspenseful, psychological plotlines.

Overall, we all shared a common interest for thriller movies and the many different aspects of it. The different ideas that we had in mind for our opening sequence were all involving the common acts and features you would typically see in thriller films. As a result, we've decided to go with thriller as our genre for this final task.
