Title Research: Hostage


  I chose  "Hostage" from "watch the title"

1. What titles are displayed during the opening sequence?

The opening of the title sequence started with the company the film is made by. Then it gives us the name production and a description of it. After that it shows us the name of the person it was film by with visuals in the background. Immediately after that, it gives us the title of the movie also with visuals. After it gives the name of the actor/actresses that are feature in the movie. After it shows us who direct the music in the film, then co-producer, costume designer, editors, production designer, director of photography, executive producers  and the producers. After that it tells us that its base on a novel by someone, then screenplay and lastly again who it's directed by.


2. What images are prioritized in the opening sequence?


Images that are prioritized in the opening sequences are images that show kind of a pre-view of what's going to happen in the movie. Based on watching the opening sequences the audience can kind of see the roles each actors/actresses are going to play. It prioritized the scenes of the movie that will take place. Also prioritized the setting because in the opening sequence when they were showing the titles, they also show the setting of when the scenes will take place.


3rd. What connotations do these images carry?


These images carry a sense of mystery and suspense. These images show the audience that the film is going to be dark in a way along with the background music. The props that's in these images also show the mysteries that will be happening throughout the movie in each scenes. They also show us that there will be a little bit of action in the movie also.


4. How does the Film establish a feeling of the genre from the outset?

The film establish a feeling of the genre from the outset through the music. It did establish it though the images but the music started it from the beginning to end. The props also did a great job of showing what they genre will in or is.


5. What strategies are used to ensure the film appeals to its target audience?

Strategies that are used to ensure the film appeals its target audience are the music throughout the opening which cause the audience to feel the suspense of the movie. Also the props that are in the images also create a sense of danger to the audience. Both are feelings that connects and create the thriller genre, so the audience will definitely be interested once they see the opening sequence.


6. How has technology been used effectively?


Technology has been use perfectly throughout the scenes, starting from the camera angles to transitions and editing skills. The way everything was set up show how advanced technology is, the transitions and editing techniques shows how skillful the people who are editing are. They manage to create the animations that look like actors/actress and through editing and transitions they give it this effect that slow things down and also shoot in different kind of angles slowly.

 After my group finished, I finally was able to get work done. My task was only to edit the mall and park scene. I think maybe Dezyrae wanted to edit the house scenes. I am not sure completely sure on who did it. Editing was very easy going. It was not difficult nor complicated at all. First, I made sure to go over every scene. I wanted to see if it followed the storyboard. I only obtained the scenes from the mall and park. The process of trimming went well. I did not have any difficulty with it. I trimmed the parts that were not needed. While trimming, I kept in mind that I did not want the videos to be too long. The final task should only be two minutes. Although, I had trouble editing the transitions. I was not sure which part to trim. So, the transitions are probably very bad. I probably could had done a better job for the transitions but it costed money to get access to the different transitions. I tried to use other editing apps. Creative Critical Reflection

1. My product uses conventions by that I clarified about the product to help readers to completely understand what my product is used for. I would say that this product is welcome to all hair types. Growing up, I struggled to find hair brushes that will not cause unnecessary damage to my hair. I have tightly coiled hair so, my hair is hard to tame. Those with the same hair type as me, or a hair type closer than it, finally know a product that is pain-free and detangles just fine. 2. My product engages with audiences by that we all struggled to find the right tools that would work for our hair. It is important for us to choose products that will work for our hair and prevent hair damage. This would be distributed as a real media text through a commercial. A commercial would do good at explaining this product more.   What elements of the genre that you chose to base your final task on does this movie have?  An element we'll be using in our final task is intense music. We want to create a lot of suspense in our movie. So when the girl receives the texts/letters, we'll use intense music. We'll also be using the element normality. The girl is going to pretend nothing is wrong during the task. The other girls won't know anything's wrong, so they'll also be acting normal. What elements of the genre did the movie have that you like? Intensity: At the beginning of the movie, Sandra is explaining to the kids that they must remain silent and alert.
