Our Pitch

 We started by discussing locations for the Movie, so we can make the pitch based on that. 


Pitches based on location

Park

  • A group of girls go to the park to hang out, but one girl is stuck babysitting. The girls get distracted and don't notice the little sister goes missing.
  • A group girls are at home watching the news and see there are a lot of murders happening at the park. They don't believe anything will happen to them, so they go anyway. While at the park, they notice signs of the murderer.

Dezyrae's home

  • A group of girls are hanging out, but one girl is jealous and feels excluded from the group. Due to her jealousy, she tries to harm/kill the "queen bee" of the group.
  • A group of girls are hanging out and discussing recent murders. While they're discussing, something happens and they start seeing signs similar to the murders.
  • A group of girls are hanging out and the news is describing recent murders. The news says what happens before the murders. While they're hanging out the signs start to happen and the kids get scared.

No specific location

  • A girl has previously murdered her best friend, but got away with it. She starts having flashbacks but tries to hide it from her friends so she doesn't get caught.
  • A girl is walking home alone with her headphones in. She gets attacked but another girl see's the attack and attacks the attacker. The attacker goes after the witness as well. The witness and girl try to find help, but the person they ask for help ends up being an accomplice of the attacker.
  • A girl starts getting anonymous texts/ notes of threats. She keeps it to herself because she's scared. One day she gets a text to go outside or the person will harm her friends. The girl goes outside but ends up getting murdered. Her friends go to check on the girl and notice she's gone and see a trail of blood.

Chosen Pitch
We ended up going with: "A girl starts getting weird anonymous texts/notes, but tells no one. In an attempt to save her friends from anonymous, she gets herself killed." For this pitch we used inspiration from Freeform's "Pretty Little Liars" (PLL). In PLL, there is a group of 5 but one girl dies and the group falls apart. A year later the remaining four girl start getting harassed by an unknown person with threats to expose their secrets. For the next twelve years the girls struggle to figure out who it is. From this, we took the inspiration of being controlled by an anonymous person. We felt this would would be a very interactive film to do that will keep us interested. We also loved that we can film in multiple places. In the music video Sarayah and Dezyrae created, their group struggled a lot with their location being at one person's house. So by doing this pitch, we won't run into this problem. This will be a very fun film to create, and we can't wait to get deeper into the process!!

Editing

 After my group finished, I finally was able to get work done. My task was only to edit the mall and park scene. I think maybe Dezyrae wanted to edit the house scenes. I am not sure completely sure on who did it. Editing was very easy going. It was not difficult nor complicated at all. First, I made sure to go over every scene. I wanted to see if it followed the storyboard. I only obtained the scenes from the mall and park. The process of trimming went well. I did not have any difficulty with it. I trimmed the parts that were not needed. While trimming, I kept in mind that I did not want the videos to be too long. The final task should only be two minutes. Although, I had trouble editing the transitions. I was not sure which part to trim. So, the transitions are probably very bad. I probably could had done a better job for the transitions but it costed money to get access to the different transitions. I tried to use other editing apps. Unfortunately, almost all of them required pay...

Creative Critical Reflection

1. My product uses conventions by that I clarified about the product to help readers to completely understand what my product is used for. I would say that this product is welcome to all hair types. Growing up, I struggled to find hair brushes that will not cause unnecessary damage to my hair. I have tightly coiled hair so, my hair is hard to tame. Those with the same hair type as me, or a hair type closer than it, finally know a product that is pain-free and detangles just fine. 2. My product engages with audiences by that we all struggled to find the right tools that would work for our hair. It is important for us to choose products that will work for our hair and prevent hair damage. This would be distributed as a real media text through a commercial. A commercial would do good at explaining this product more.   What elements of the genre that you chose to base your final task on does this movie have?  An element we'll be using in our final task is intense music. We want to create a lot of suspense in our movie. So when the girl receives the texts/letters, we'll use intense music. We'll also be using the element normality. The girl is going to pretend nothing is wrong during the task. The other girls won't know anything's wrong, so they'll also be acting normal. What elements of the genre did the movie have that you like? Intensity: At the beginning of the movie, Sandra is explaining to the kids that they must remain silent and alert. As she explains, the audience gets an intense feeling. Intense music/ sound motifs: After the beginning scene, there's intense music and the sound of the creature playing.
